Job Overview

Assist the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in analyzing the overall financial performance of the New York Racing Association as well as analyze and project the impact of business strategies as well as evolving economic and competitive conditions. Work with and assist the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis and finance team during preparation of the annual operating and capital budget. Work with and assist revenue accounting with invoicing and settlement functions.


  • Analyze revenue and expense accounts with significant variances and adjust budget/forecast as necessary;
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting package
  • Analyze financial impact of business strategies and evolving economic conditions;
  • Analyze impact of proposed and/or implemented legislative adjustments to statutory distribution framework;
  • Analyze purse earnings and purse payouts to assure compliance of statutory liability threshold;
  • Statistical and analytical reporting utilizing various systems such as Great Plains, CHRIMS InCompass and other data warehouse applications;
  • Communicate with NYRA Director of Simulcasting to verify commission rates in CHRIMS;
  • Analyze daily wagering data and resolve any discrepancies;
  • Prepare pari-mutuel settlements;
  • Communicate with simulcast settlement agents, collect and record cash receipts;
  • Ensure accuracy in monthly invoices;
  • Resolve TOTE-related discrepancies and irregularities;
  • Create and present periodic reports that analyze wagering activity, handle and meets;
  • Analyze and interpret data and trends related to concession revenue;
  • Provide audit support to Revenue Accountant;
  • Analytical and creative minded when it comes to interpreting data and trends;
  • Assist in preparation of other ad hoc projects as required.



  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferable with accounting or finance major.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • General understanding of accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of thoroughbred racing a plus.
