Job Overview

The Paralegal will be responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Legal Department, such as maintaining legal department files and updating legal resources.



 Responsibilities of the Paralegal include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting multiple attorneys in general practice including corporate governance, contracts, regulatory compliance, purchasing and procurement, litigation and labor and employment matters.
  • Assisting with drafting various contracts and contracts administration.
  • Undertaking legal research in a variety of areas, as requested by attorneys.
  • Composing responses to inquiries.
  • Providing administrative and organizational support such as assisting to maintain legal department files and updating legal resources/volumes.
  • Performing routine office duties such as photocopying, scanning, filing, etc.
  • Maintaining a legal calendar of events for the NYRA legal staff to ensure timely responses to various legal matters, such as arbitrations, contract negotiations, etc.
  • Maintaining departmental files covering contracts, labor issues, litigation, and general legal documents in an orderly fashion to facilitate research.
  • Opening, time stamping, and prioritizing the departmental mail. Making copies of documents for the departmental files. Reading and routing emails to appropriate personnel.
  • Answering telephones to screen and route phone calls to the appropriate personnel; Attempts to provide information to callers; Taking messages for the legal staff.
  • Coordinating and sets-up meetings. Arranging for hotel accommodations. Arranging for escorting guests around NYRA facilities.
  • Ordering office supplies to ensure a continuous flow of work.

      • Making copies of documents
      • Binding pages into reports
      • Maintaining lists of contacts
      • Taking notes during meetings
      • Updating legal binders with new material
  • May perform other duties as required





  • Associates Degree
  • 5 years of work in an administrative environment, preferably in a corporate legal department
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (outlook, word and excel)
