Job Overview

The Sr Database Developer position plays a key role in the organization. The Sr. Database Developer will acquire and maintain a high level of knowledge about how the business works and must develop highly effective working relationships with all members of the management. The Sr. Database Developer is responsible for working with the Applications Development and the Business Analytics teams. The candidate will help identify business requirements, develop information models, design advanced SQL reports, design and build data warehouses, and perform data analysis for BI and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.



This position will be responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance and work with other developers optimizing SQL statements as necessary for applications, and establishing best practices. This position will help solve all database usage issues, recommend ideas, advice and execute solutions in order to avoid such problems in the future.

  • Develops, designs and implements advanced SQL queries to improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs and meet the business needs.
  • Provides guidance to the intra departmental team in the interpretation and application of the departments’ and translate business needs to technical specifications and data modeling.
  • Continuously works to establish a high level of trust with business partner.
  • Improves existing BI systems and analyzes departmental trends and metrics to develop and implement solutions as per the business requirements.
  • Be part of cross-functional projects to address BI and Reporting requirements.
  • Design advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, scripts and cursors.
  • Create, maintain, modify and optimize SQL Server database queries.
  • Crafting and executing queries upon request for data through visualizations and/or reports for requested projects
  • Collaborate with applications developers on data modeling, E-R diagrams, and writing relational and multidimensional database queries, and Stored Procedures.
  • Responsible for data conversion and data migration projects and SSRS Reporting.
  • Must demonstrate extensive SQL query writing skills to support critical business needs.
  • Assist end-users with reporting needs

Knowledge Required:


  • Experience designing and implementing new databases in MSSQL 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016 and a broad understating of relational and multidimension data.
  • Experience writing advanced SQL queries, analyzing and optimizing queries and stored procedures and DTS packages / SSIS and SSRS reports
  • Broad understanding of software development and web technologies, data mining, cube management and data warehouse technologies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with IT staff, business users and executives.
  • Previous experience with .NET, Classic ASP, Tableau and Sql Analysis Cubes is a plus.
  • Microsoft Certification preferred.
