  • Job Overview

    The Box Office Representative sells, cross-sells, and up-sells NYRA admission, seating and event facilities to inbound callers to increase sales revenue, which involves responding to incoming calls for information on NYRA tickets, event facilities, services offered, and pricing; and, taking all relevant information to begin the ticketing and sales process. Provides excellent customer service relating to all aspects of the client and guest experience at NYRA to by responding to requests for information and assistance as requested. Sells admission and seating tickets, on a rotational basis, to patrons who visit NYRA tracks.

    Responsibilities

    The job responsibilities of the Box Office Representatives are as follows:

    • Sells, cross-sells, and up-sells NYRA event facilities to inbound callers to increase sales revenue, which involves:
      • Responding to incoming calls and live Web chat inquiries for information on NYRA event facilities, services offered, and pricing; Taking all relevant information to begin the ticketing and sales process;
      • Discussing options for facilities, food service, entertainment, and amenities with the client; Offering suggestions to improve the event;
      • Sending brochures to targeted companies recorded on various mailing lists;
      • Maintaining a contact database of potential clients;
      • Checking ticket availability to determine if facilities are available;
      • Explaining the terms of the NYRA event contract to clients;
      • Closing the sale and printing event tickets for the client;
      • Occasionally calling potential clients by phone to solicit their business; and,
      • Identifying potential sponsorship cross sales and referring to sponsorship.
    • Sells admission and seating tickets, on a rotational basis, to patrons who visit the racetrack.
    • Provides excellent customer service relating to all aspects of the client and guest experience at NYRA to by responding to requests for information and assistance as requested.
    • May perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of successful telephone selling experience with additional guest service experience preferred.
    • Computer literacy
    • Knowledge of Archtics or other ticketing software preferred.
    • Driver’s license and ability to work the racing schedule including holidays and weekend
    • A high level of proficiency with English, excellent articulation, ability to employ tact and diplomacy when dealing with potential clients
    • Excellent understanding of telephone etiquette
    • Preferred Employment Dates: May 2 - September 3
